He tries to keep a squeaky clean personality, but Auggie has a slightly self-destructive side that has him driving while intoxicated with a young man who is about to be murdered. Auggie is a young college student looking to get famous through Social Media. I love the tie-in, but on the whole the story is very different. The First Quatro series seems to take place a few years before Hazard returned to town and a young officer Somerset visits Auggie at one point to question him. This series takes place in the same universe, meaning that it is the same town and the main character attends college at the local university the two detectives spent a lot of time at. I am a big fan of this author and his Hazard and Somerset series. Between Gregory’s words and JF’s voice I could not turn it off. JF Harding has to be one of my favorite narrators. I feel like we’ll have to tuck in and wait to see how long Gregory will tease us with their relationship. Gregory Ashe keeps his crown and title of King of the Slow Burn. If you are hoping for a quick romance and relationship you will be disappointed. This book is a set up for (hopefully) Auggie and Theo’s relationship. It was really exciting to see one familiar face and another side of the Wahredua (nefarious) Police Department.

Just student & grad student solving crime through deductive reasoning. This was a new take on investigation, they are not police or private detectives. Auggie who is trying to find who he really is when he’s not acting his social media personality.

Theo who is grieving over the loss of his husband and daughter by drinking the pain away. One thing that I appreciate about Gregory Ashe’s book is his broken imperfect men. I couldn’t have been more surprised and excited when I saw JF Harding was narrating a Gregory Ashe book.
